This project was a series of room makeovers which included the living space, the office, the entryway and the dining room.
The living space – a beautiful double height area with lots of glowing sunlight – is a light airy room, separated by a half wall from the dining and kitchen areas. We wanted to create a cozy oasis for our clients, so we started by adding a plush sofa with a chaise in a soft mocha color along the half wall to delientate the separate spaces. Light blue custom pillows and a woven throw add to the sofa’s comfortability. We then placed two round end tables on either side of the sofa.
On the other end of the room, we added a beautifully carved media cabinet featuring a mirrored front and blue stone top. We also added a muted blue winged chair and ottoman in a striped coastal pattern. An industrial standing lamp and small gold end table, make this area a perfect reading nook.
Tying the two ends of the room together is a neutral area rug with warm gray accents as well as a carved wooden, squared coffee table with a stone top. The fireplace was also given a small facelift with the addition of its diamond patterned tile in a white/gray marble. Small accessories really bring the space a new life with yellow florals, blue sculpture coral, candlesticks, vases and books. White and breezy window treatments keep the space light. The final touch was the large abstract artwork above the fireplace in cool gray and blue tones which easily became a fun focal point for the room.
For the entryway, we added a hand painted silver chest with dark hardware to place under the stair. A large, custom floral adds height atop the chest. We also added a fun, radial mirror on the adjacent wall.
In the dining area, the challenge here was to work with the clients’ existing furniture and refresh the space. We started by replacing the existing fixture for a more modern one – an eight light fixture with textured glass globes in a golden finish to bring a modern look to the space. We gave the walls a facelift by going with a deeper, more rich blue, which made the existing wainscoting pop more. Abstract coastal artwork and a gold wired floral mirror add much needed visual interests to the walls. Fresh window treatments in a delicate floral pattern bring warmth to the small bay window at the top of the room.
The final space for this client was the office – a room full of leftover furniture and house spillover. We wanted this room to be a true office. We started by adding a fresh carpet in a cool cream tone as well as a refresh of paint and an accent wall. For the accent wall, we chose a feminine but tonal wall covering featuring a repetitive floral and leaf combination. We then added a modern wooden storage cabinet along the accent wall. To complete this wall, we chose a mid century blue arm chair to sit between the two windows. A tree was paired with the chair to complete the nook.
On the opposite wall, we placed an “L” shaped rustic desk to take up most of the space. A built in filing cabinet and under desk storage add needed space to store items. We also added a light brown leather chair. A few floating shelves adorned with family photos and a few florals complete the desk area.
